Today, I'd like to introduce our popular product, the " Tea Incense Burner " !

These modern products, made using Tokoname ware, a traditional pottery produced in Tokoname City, Aichi Prefecture, are so stylish they can also be used as interior decor. The aim is to bring out the rich aroma of roasted Japanese tea and create a relaxing space at home, just like you would experience in a store.
This guide will introduce you to the history , charm , and usage of tea incense burners, and how to fully enjoy their fragrance!
...The history of tea incense burners...
Although tea incense burners are now used worldwide, primarily in Asia, their origins are deeply intertwined with the development of traditional Japanese incense culture and the tea ceremony.
Incense was introduced to Japan from China along with Buddhism, and in its early stages, it was used in Buddhist and Shinto rituals.
During the formation of Japan's unique tea culture, the tea ceremony (chanoyu) was established during the Sengoku period, and its formal form was refined during the subsequent Muromachi period. In particular, Sen no Rikyu deepened the spiritual aspects of the tea ceremony and established the aesthetic of wabi-sabi, an aesthetic that influenced not only the tea ceremony but also Japanese literature, art, and daily life!
The history of tea incense burners themselves is surprisingly recent, with the first one being created in 1997. A ceramics manufacturer headquartered in Handa City, Aichi Prefecture, apparently got the idea for the tea incense burner from an aroma pot.
In the tea ceremony, there is more meaning than simply drinking tea; stillness, inner peace, and mental concentration are considered important.
In such rituals, incense has played an important role in providing participants with spiritual enrichment and relaxation, often used in conjunction with the aroma of tea. Today, the fragrance of incense harmonizes with the aroma of tea to create a pleasant atmosphere.
...The charm of tea incense burners, preparation, and (new!) ways to use them...
Thank you for purchasing a CHABAKKA tea incense burner!
First, enjoy a selection of teas or draft teas at our Kamakura or Atami store. Then, carefully take them home so you can enjoy the same tea aroma you tasted in the store, right in your own home!
Take the tea incense burner out of the box, and first, to create a quiet space, decide where to place the CHABAKKA tea incense burner, which features a simple yet calming design.
It fits anywhere in the house, but the entrance hall , where you can enjoy the fragrance the moment you enter, or the living room, where you spend the most time, seem to be the best locations for our customers. Since the tea incense burner uses candle light, it is not only ideal for its intended use, but also as an interior decoration when not in use, and as indirect lighting when in use.

Once you have secured a safe and suitable location, prepare 30 grams (or about the size of a 500 yen coin) of tea leaves —not limited to green tea purchased from our store, but also herbal tea , black tea , or any tea leaves you already have at home—in the small dish on top of the tea incense burner.
You can use any type of tea leaves, but CHABAKKA owner Mr. Miura recommends burning green tea in the incense burner as is traditionally done, and then enjoying roasted green tea with the tea leaves used at the end! However, if you are making homemade roasted green tea, be sure to heat it slowly for at least 30 minutes.
After choosing your favorite tea leaves, the key to enjoying their full aroma is not to add too many. Adding too much will cause them to burn too quickly, resulting in a burnt smell.
To allow the aroma of tea to spread best and to fully enjoy the relaxing effect of the tea incense burner, we recommend adding an appropriate amount of tea leaves and changing them as needed. Once your favorite tea leaves are ready, light the candle carefully, taking care not to let the flame get in the way, and place the incense burner directly beneath the tea leaves.

As the incense begins to burn in the candlelight, the fragrance fills the entire room. Once the scent has spread, take a deep breath and enjoy the wabi-sabi mindset and CHABAKKA's unique "Japanese tea entertainment."
