This original konpeito (sugar candy) is made using a traditional method that has been practiced in Kitakyushu City, Fukuoka Prefecture for over 80 years, and is generously sprinkled with Uji matcha "Okumidori."

~What is Konpeito?~

This traditional confection originates from Portugal and is made by gradually adding sugar syrup in an oven to allow it to crystallize.

Creating the unique, angular shape requires the skill and time of a craftsman.

Konpeito candy is considered a lucky charm, and because it is made over a long period of time, it symbolizes "marital harmony" and "prosperity of descendants." The horns on its surface are also said to be disliked by demons, thus symbolizing "good health and protection from illness."
